Galil's PVT Mode

Galil’s newest mode of motion is PVT (Position, Velocity, Time).  This mode allows arbitrary motion profiles to be defined by position, velocity and time individually on all axes.  This motion is designed for systems where the load must traverse a series of coordinates within time constraints and with no discontinuities in velocity.  Taking advantage of the built in buffering, the user can create virtually any profile including those with infinite path lengths. 

GalilPVT is a developer’s tool for using the PVT mode of motion on the DMC-40×0 series motion controller.  PVT is one of Galil’s more sophisticated modes of motion, and the GalilPVT software tool allows the user to visualize the planned trajectory prior to sending the data to the controller.    It displays each PVT point as it would be commanded by the user including elapsed time, total distance, incremental position, velocity and incremental time.  It also displays a kinematics view including distance, velocity, acceleration and jerk.

This short 2 minute video demonstrates smooth multi-axis motion through arbitrary points using PVT (Position Velocity Time).

Nippon Pulse’s linear stepper series provides a simple motion system at a fraction of the cost of conventional rotary stepper motors and traditional linear motion systems. Our LINEARSTEP® series are permanent magnet type stepper motors that enable linear motions without the need for external transformers. The LINEARSTEP® series offers a wide range of customizable options, including various screw pitches, screw lengths, bipolar or unipolar windings, and several operating voltages.
Nippon Pulse Linear Stepper Motor
Because of its ball bearing support and strong motor case, the LINEARSTEP® series provides you with durability and a long operating life. With an enhanced Neodymium rotor magnet, the LINEARSTEP® series also offers a large driving force, up to 39.5N at 200pps. These linear motors can be controlled and driven by the same electronics used for rotary stepper motors.

Features of Nippon Pulse’s Linear Stepper Motors include:

• Two motor sizes, 25mm and 35mm
• Bipolar and Unipolar windings
• Three thread pitches (0.48mm, 0.96mm, 1.20mm)
• 30mm and 60mm effective stroke lengths

Zaber’s Gantries are designed for multi-axis applications where load and travel requirements exceed the rated cantilever load specs of Zaber’s simpler XY or XYZ systems.

In the T-G-LSM200A200A system (shown), a synchronized pair of lead-screws provide very low backlash and high stiffness.  Gantry systems include a base-plate with a full M6 on 25 mm grid of mounting holes, integrated high flex cable and cable management system.

The T-G-LSM gantry systems are composed of three linear stages with integrated controllers, a base-plate with a full M6 on 25 mm grid of mounting holes, integrated high flex cable and cable management system. In addition, these gantries are available in 100 or 200 mm travel per axis (custom lengths available), have a low profile – 70 mm overall height, and are customizable i.e. add another Zaber stage for a Z-axis.

In this video, the gantry system is moving a 9.4 kg (20.68 lb) load.
