µZ’s are the smallest off-the-shelf servo drives from Advanced Motion Controls.  Pronounced ‘Micro-Z’ these plug-in drives are designed for embedded applications in a wide range of industries including: robotics, lab automation, homeland security/military, electric mobility, medical and packaging.

µZ servo drives are designed to drive brushless and brushed DC motors at a high switching frequency. To increase system reliability and to reduce cabling costs, the drives are designed for direct integration into your PCB. Weighing in at just 8.5 grams, µZ Drives output 10 A peak and 5 A continuous and operate with a bus voltage range of 10 to 36 VDC.

Designed without the need for a heatsink, the µZ’s are true featherweights with a high power to weight ratio. The µZ’s are fully protected against over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-heating, and short-circuits.  Depending on the model, the drives interface with digital controllers that have analog ±10 V or PWM/Direction commands. These servo drives require only a single unregulated isolated DC power supply, and are fully RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant.

AMC have added 14 new 60A and 100A servo drives to the DigiFlex Performance family.  These panel mount drives take up to 240VAC 3 phase or 373VDC input power with a variety of feedback options including Incremental Encoder, Resolver, Absolute and Universal.  These CANopen, EtherCAT and RS232 models are available now.

Instructions on how to manually commutate a brushless servo motor by trying all 6 wiring combinations.

The servo drive is an AMC BX25A20AC and the motor is NEMA 34 BLDC servo motor.  Servo drives from ADVANCED Motion Controls are designed to operate with a wide range of motor types, configurations and manufacturers.  Some basic specifications for the BX25A20AC are that it accepts 120VAC single phase supply, outputs 25A peak and 12.5A continuous and works in current mode, open loop mode and velocity mode.

Advanced Motion Controls has released four new EtherCAT Z-Drives to expand on the existing DZEANTU-020B080 EtherCAT node drives and the DZSANTU-020B080 sub-node drives.   Extending the  DigiFlex Performance product line AMC’s EtherCAT communication servo drives provide for multiple feedback devices in a variety of power platforms.   Advanced Motion Controls EtherCAT products consist of panel mount and plug-in servo drives to allow for quick prototyping and ease of system integration.   Panel mount DPE drives serve as nodes in single or multi-axis EtherCAT networks, while plug-in DZE/DZS drives utilize AMC’s unique, proprietary high speed multi-axis communication interface and I/O expansion capabilities (‘DxM’ and ‘DxI/O’ Technologies).   Now a single EtherCAT node can accommodate a combination of up to 4 axes of motion with 32 digital inputs, 32 digital outputs, 4 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs each.

ADVANCED Motion Controls introduces most configurable analog servo drives to date August 27, 2013

Greenville, DE- Available immediately are the B060A400AC and B100A400AC analog brushless servo drives providing up to 21kW and 35kW respectively.

The B060A400AC is capable of outputting 60A peak and 30A continuous while the B100A400AC outputs 100A peak and 50A continuous.  These servo drives can operate with both AC and DC supply voltages with an AC voltage range of 200-240VAC and a DC voltage range of 255-373 VDC.  The built-in shunt circuit alleviates regeneration issues to increase the maximum deceleration rate of large inertial loads. Modes of operation include: Current, Duty Cycle, Voltage, IR Comp, Encoder Velocity, Hall Velocity and Tachometer.

DIP Switch selectable settings allow fine-tuning to match motor and machine dynamics without having to change components on the board.  Included are 17 current loop integrator gain settings, 32 current loop proportional gain settings, 8 velocity loop integrator gain settings and 4 tachometer scaling settings.  In addition, selectable inhibit logic, fault logic and linear ramping make these drives compatible with more controllers.  With so many configuration options these are our most configurable analog servo drives ever.

These new servo drives are suited for a wide range of applications including: assembly/general factory automation, satellite ground station positioning, robotics, testers, metalworking machines, alternative energy control, simulators and more.

These products not only provide precise motion but also at reduced cost when applied in a multiple networked axes system.

ADVANCED Motion Controls has also created exclusive ‘DxM’ – Demultiplexed Motion technology allowing connectivity of up to 3 DZS drives (sub-nodes) to a single DZE (node) on an EtherCAT® network for up to 4 axes of servo motion. Removing the cost of additional EtherCAT® nodes greatly reduces overall system cost. ‘DxM’ technology handles all sub-node activity easily through one node, making master tasks much simpler in multi-axis systems.
