Galil Logo SnippetGalil manufactures a wide range of single and multi-axis motion controllers designed to solve a wide range of motion control applications.  For clarity, the controllers are broken down into their respective communication formats.  The most common PC based solution is the plug and play PCI Bus.  Other PC based form factors include ISA, VME, CompactPCI, and PC/104 boards.  For applications where a Stand-Alone controller (not dependant on a PC) is needed, there are controllers with RS232, USB and Ethernet connectivity.

Galil’s Single / Multi-Axis Motion Controller Platforms includes:

Galil Controller Accessories

Galil also provides many accessories such as interconnect modules and cables for fast and easy prototyping. Software tools such as WSDK for servo tuning and analysis, and an ActiveX Tool Kit speed system development.  In addition, Galil offers servo motors and amplifiers to complement its line of controllers.

Since their introduction of the first microprocessor-based motion controller in 1983, Galil has remained the industry’s leading innovator.  Galil’s unparalleled array of motion controllers – for both stepper and servo motors – is backed by superior technical support and can accommodate the most demanding applications – with absolute precision.

Over 500,000 controllers sold worldwide!

Servo Solutions For Mobile Automation Challenges

With automation expanding out of the factory, machine builders are faced with a varying set of new challenges.  Mobile platforms, such as unmanned systems, are expected to operate in extreme environments and carry their own power source; all while being light weight and compact.

To meet the current and future needs of the market, enabling technologies need to be applied and discovered.  At the forefront of the enabling technologies are servo drive controllers.

Servo controllers not only make a robot or mobile platform move, they can also be solutions to the other design requirements.  A servo is an integral component to any mobile solution and can help with power efficiency, communication, agility and dexterity.  This webinar will touch on the challenges presented to robot designers and how servo drives can make them successful.

200N (20.4kgf), 400N (40.8kgf) and 500N (51.0kgf) maximum thrust rod style cylinders

Dyadic SCN6 Mechatronics Cylinder

Dyadic SCN6 Mechatronics Cylinder

The SCN6 series of Dyadic’s Mechatronics Cylinder line offers a wide range of speed/thrust combinations and enviromental ratings. The line includes models rated for 20, 40, 50, and 60kgf of peak thrust, with top speeds from 100-200mm/s. Dyadic has developed the linear actuator drive mechanism such that the screw and nut are optimized for high accuracy, long life and low cost while delivering high speed and peak thrust. This blend of low-cost and high performance could only have been realized by the advanced technology of Dyadic Systems. These new product concepts give engineers a wider range of options to eliminate over-design.Mechatronics Cylinders are available in a range of stroke lengths and are constructed using an extruded aluminum body with 303 stainless for the shaft and rod tip. IP-54 rated units include a dust wiper on the shaft and a muffler on the body, as well as silicone sealing all over the back end of the unit. Actuators can easily be operated via 24VDC signals from PLCs or relays, and can be connected in networks of up to 16 axes.

This servo actuator system is unique in that the motor, encoder, drive and the program memory are one integral package.  Dyadic has developed the linear actuator drive mechanism such that the screw and nut are optimized for high accuracy, long life and low cost-high performance.  This blend of low-cost and high performance could only have been realized by the advanced technology of Dyadic Systems.  These new product concepts give engineers a wider range of options to eliminate over-design.

Features include:

  • Low cost plug & play operation

Advanced Motion Controls EtherCAT Servo Amplifiers

Advanced Motion Controls EtherCAT Servo Amplifiers

Advanced Motion Controls has released four new EtherCAT Z-Drives to expand on the existing DZEANTU-020B080 EtherCAT node drives and the DZSANTU-020B080 sub-node drives.   Extending the  DigiFlex Performance product line AMC’s EtherCAT communication servo drives provide for multiple feedback devices in a variety of power platforms.   Advanced Motion Controls EtherCAT products consist of panel mount and plug-in servo drives to allow for quick prototyping and ease of system integration.   Panel mount DPE drives serve as nodes in single or multi-axis EtherCAT networks, while plug-in DZE/DZS drives utilize AMC’s unique, proprietary high speed multi-axis communication interface and I/O expansion capabilities (‘DxM’ and ‘DxI/O’ Technologies).   Now a single EtherCAT node can accommodate a combination of up to 4 axes of motion with 32 digital inputs, 32 digital outputs, 4 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs each.

The result is a highly integrated high value motion control solution for single or multi-axis applications. – See more at:

Tips for using Galil Optoisolated Outputs Video

Galil has recently added a new video to its growing library of 2-minute instructional videos.  This latest video gives recommendations for wiring and supply voltages when connecting to the optically isolated outputs on Galil controllers.  This video focuses on best practices for connecting the outputs between the controller and load, and for connecting an external power supply to assure true optical isolation is maintained.  Proper connections when using the various output options such as sourcing or sinking, supply voltages, and current ratings are discussed. Techniques for by-passing the optical isolation circuitry are also presented. >>Watch Video
